How to create crosswords and arrowword puzzles
Build a personalized puzzle from your own words and clues. Choose crosswords, with clues beside the puzzle, or arrowwords, with clues and arrows inside the cells.

Create your puzzle step by step
Choose your puzzle type
Select the crossword or arrowword tab. You can switch between the two presentations in the creator.
Add words and clues
In the words and options panel, enter a word and its clue, then click the add button. Repeat for your other words. You might choose a theme such as the sea, animals, a lesson or a family event.
Set the title and dimensions
Give your puzzle a title and choose its dimensions. Allow enough space for the longest words and, in arrowwords, for the clue cells.
Try another arrangement
The rearrange button searches for another layout. Automatic word addition can supply extra words to connect and complete your words. If no arrangement works, try different dimensions or connecting words.
Add images
You can attach an image to a clue or add decorative photos. Select a decorative photo to move it, change its size or crop it.
Print or export as PDF
Use the eye button to show or hide the solution. Then use the print or PDF button to prepare a version to share.
Frequently asked questions
Can I correct a word I have already added?
Yes. Use the edit button in the added words panel. Correct the word or clue, then save your changes.
Why do some words fail to fit?
Words must form a connected set of crossings. Dimensions, available letters and the search time limit constrain the possibilities. Another arrangement, a different size or additional words may help.
